So my current Carrier is a short to medium haul OTR carrier. Even tho they operate in all 48 states. So very, very few runs that exceed 1000 miles. Probably about a 400-450 mile average. The annoyance is that since almost all loads are regional length runs at best. Why am I always stuck running regional length runs in everyone else's region. I live in Central Florida but I'm always running the mountains in the east/northeast or the mountains out west. I'm just not cool with that. Would ya'll be? So I'm starting to explore the possibilities in finding a Southeast Regional company to run for. Rant is over.

There seems to be a fear amongst companies that if a driver is somehow allowed to run close to his home, he might ***horrors**** actually spend a night at home and put a load in peril. I had the same issue with Schneider, and was hoping Crete might be different. So far, Crete has been slightly better. This is just my opinion.

Pay is fairly weak on a sliding scale. I'm expected to be out 3+ weeks at a time and NEVER get anywhere near home the entire time I'm out. And don't stay home more than 3 days or must surrender the truck. I could see this regional crap IF I was in freight lanes that got me thru the house occassionally but that will never happen running in everyone else's region.

    You pulling dry van? Reefer?

Epes should get you home every weekend or so. I also live in central Florida. I'm in flatbed though, looking for a southeast regional flatbed company

Dry Van only so far in my career. I've been following the Epes threads I think I may be iffy on their hiring zone.

Why aren't you with Heyl. I usually run a load up to MD or PA, then over to Midwest then back home 10-12 out, 2-3 home, rinse repeat. Or Due a Northwest run, that will put you out for 2 weeks. Very laid back company no regrets will stay here until that golden local job comes my way( UNFI) or at least Trop fleet. I would check out Davis also.
