Im thinking people will be even less tolerant and more angry when auto trucks are on all sides of them in rush hour backups. Nameless faceless moving roadblocks. Lol
Would you recommend a family member or acquaintance to get into trucking

Give it a couple years here soon, and the trucking industry will be non existent. This due to autonomous trucks and the technologies of society. We have implemented robotics, and electronics into so many industries, that in 5 years the unemployment rate will skyrocket, chaos will rain. So for all those yuppie, technology loving people out there, who think technology is so great. Thanks for the decline, and demise of jobs.

Recommended it to several friends, 1 pursued it, the rest always had some excuse like “well at McDonald’s at least I can smoke pot” or “ that’s just too much time away I’ll stay working this dead end job going nowhere.” Serious responses. Whatever. It’s not my dream job but it’s more than I’ll make in nowhere MS.
RajinCajin and VIDEODROME Thank this. -
Many years ago, some of the guys i grew up with. I recommended a job as a driver. That was years ago, when the old HOS rules were in play, and technology was not the mainstay of society. I would encourage my boys to be a garbage man over a truck driver. As stated in a recent post, by the time they get old enough to possibly be a trucker. There will be no truckers left.

I used trucking to get out of my town's awful job market where most of the jobs are Retail or Restaurants. I don't care for truck driving as a career personally, but it is working out as escaping a low wage trap of a town.
I now drive as a Yard Spotter in another town and home everyday so there are other opportunities for people who get tired of the OTR thing or dealing with truck stops.
I would recommend it to people if I think they can handle driving a semi, stress, and being away from home.
