Would you redeem rewards from buying fuel to stay at a hotel?

Why not just load up a pilot card until you have $100 worth of points, sell it to someone for $80, use the cash for whatever you like elsewhere where you won't be raped on price. Or just put it in your pocket.

 

The program worked much like the card programs do today. You swiped the card at the pump or the fuel desk when you bought fuel. The TA/PETRO system you have to visit the kiosk and redeem points. Flying J mailed the coupons to you. I used those coupons to pay for those hotel rooms.

 

i have had people say to buy that kind of stuff with your points, and not soft drinks or food. One buddy of mine, has bought a TV, CB Radio,Cooler, DVD player, bunch of other "Luxury" things for his truck with his points, hasn't cost him a dime

 

I would except I always wind up squandering mine at subway.

 

Nope, I retain motel receipts for tax time and I wouldn't ever stay in one out here if it wasn't tax deductible. I use the rewards point on my flying j card for stuff that isn't tax deductible or doesn't require a receipt.
