A year ago I backed into a girls car on our first date. :biggrin_2551:You know how it goes, It happens sometimes. I have a big truck, Her a small car, It was raining, night time, I was busy trying to be cool!! I know all bad excuses. But it happened. We agreed she should report it to her insurance since she really didn't know me yet.

Im looking to get into trucking. I always figured that was on my driving record but it's not. Went and got my abstract a few days ago. Also got the hire right report to make sure it wasn't there somehow. It's not.

So do you guys report it? There is no other place it can pop up right? Without that my records are completely clear. Im thinking I might put something but it not being there has got me thinking.

If no police report, and only handled by the insurance companies, then it didn't happen as far as any government agencies are concerned.

Was it in your drive way or parking lot or on a road way? Most likely won't show up if it was in a driveway or something. Was there in insurance claim?

Everybody has bumped into someone or something in their private vehicle if they have driven long enough. If it was on private property, or no report was taken, why make yourself look bad, and possibly cost yourself a job over a minor, private incident.

Hell no don't even mention it. Like others have said if no police report it didn't go on your driving record so employers don't need to know about it. I actually forgot about a wreck I had on a public street in my sister's car when I was a teenager. We exchanged names and insurance companies and that was it. I forgot about it when I applied for my last two employers and was hired by both. When they ask those questions they are talking about accidents that were reported to the Police and a report was made. I am a retired LEO and there were several times the Police were called and both parties agreed not to make a report. Same thing would apply. It didn't happen. You can mention it if you want but I have seen where people didn't get hired because they mentioned accidents that didn't need to be mentioned.

I work for one of the largest insurance companies in the country currently. There is a reporting system used by all insurance companies for all accidents since not all states report accidents on your driving record. When you apply to a company I would assume they might have access to this because of their insurance. The way you can find out is by calling a new insurance company and getting a quote. tell them to run the reports before you buy it to make sure everything shows up. they'll let you know. Best of luck! :mwink:

It happened in a parking lot of a store. There was no police report but it got reported to insurance. Thank you guys for all of your advice. I'm kind of amazed no one asked how the date went after that! Lol
