A classmate of mine is considering going to drive for Jasmin International. He has a license suspension and a couple misdemeanors. He has been turned down by many companies and feels this is his only in to driving. Problem is, I looked at their SMS and they are above 95% in ALL categories. The former student who drives for them and would be his "trainer" admitted to us he hadn't pre-tripped in 3 weeks, drove 1300 miles in "11 hours" and had a trailer that needed all 8 tires thrown away. My classmate is only 24 and I want to give him some good advice. Got any?

Dude, their trucks do 120mph? That'd be a great gig if you could legally log it...!! :biggrin_25523:

Well he got a bad intro to trucking. After 3 weeks of running illegal HOS and equipment without pay, his truck broke down in WV and after sitting for 3 days, they refused to pay to fix the truck, he got locked out of the truck by the repair shop and his girlfriend had to come pick him up. THEN, when he'd gotten accepted by a decent company and was waiting for his trainer, the company told him Jasmin had put an abandonment on his DAC and they couldn't hire him.

And here you see the answer to the question "How do these outfits stay in business?"

People, there's NO reason for tying your future to scumbags like this. NONE!!! Whatever you think your circumstances are, things will be much worse when they're through with you.

1300miles in 11 hours is 118.1 MPH. I would take whatever he says with a grain of salt. I am also thinking this is not the place for a new driver, even if its the only place that will hire him.

    Good Luck and safe miles,

    Larry

I put 11 hours in quotes because the way he said it, it was obvious he had ran illegal. Like, wink, wink.

Then he should get a statement from the repair shop and sue Jasmine. Period.
