Out of the listing ----- "Language: English; Fluency - Excellent (Read, Write, Speak)"

Good luck with that for that kind of money.

Yeah, I kinda noticed it too, I think they got a zillion resumes in spanish.

They also said: "Seeking experienced OTR truck driver FT/PT. Travel to Kansas, Atlanta and Louisiana."

Check my sanity, but I never looked at trucking as traveling, but they make it sound exciting if they put the word travel in the ad.

Here in Indiana, a local temp service is hiring 1 1/2 yrs exp required Class A Rollback drivers for $8.50/hr. Such a deal. Don't know why it's taken over a month to fill 20 slots

A propane hauling company tried to get me to work for that in 2007. I laughed at them. They even required Hazmat and wanted to pay less than 8.00 per hour.

LMAO...talk about dodging taxes. What a scam.

Temp worker...no insurance, lower wages. Zero job security.

Hell they pay $11 hr here for roll back.

More and more companies have been trending toward this for years. It seems to have reached the trucking industry now.

The trucking industry (Regional and OTR) may be the only shining light in this current economy.

Locals are finding it hard to deal with, because the line is so long...for that specific area of this industry.

Our current "flood" of new drivers, is much smaller than in the past. And I blame that on the current regulations in place. Otherwise, it would be double in size.

While companies thought this would be a golden opportunity to drive wages back down to early 90's level. It's hit a major bump in the road, thanks to those regulations.

Sure, some of the bottom feeders have managed to get pay rates down. But it's beginning to swing back up, thanks to CSA.

While our pay is certainly affected by the current affairs. We're not seeing near the impact of other industries.

I've only lost .05 a mile over the last 2 years. But, that's due to a job change and driver classification. Adds up to about $5k a year. Not bad when you consider the time off vs living on the road expenses.

Prediction here: We'll see .50 a mile, as a top or near top rate for experienced/safe drivers within the next 12-18 months.
