Well, it's not that big a stretch when you think about it.

Wages will go up, due to a few mitigating factors.

Overall demand for safe drivers, freight increases and driver shortage (again, wink wink). And the worse of the lot...inflation. Which could negate any increase we see.

We're already seeing inflation. It's pace has been slowed a bit, but it's here. Now the question is, How bad will it get?

The company I am working for, has already started talk of a pay increase.

"B-b-b-b-b-b-but I have 8 children, and a lovely wife to take care of. Not to mention my bills and my $1400 a month mortgage, and car payments! I-I-I-I-I-I will accept ANYTHING at this point."

It's THIS type of attitude that pisses me off. It's THIS type of attitude is the reason why there is a HUGE gap between the cost of living, and modern day pay wages (Inflation increases every year while pay wages stay the SAME). It's THIS type of attitude the reason why many employers are getting away with paying their employees chicken-scrap wages. It's THIS type of attitude the reason why many big companies laugh all the way to the bank. They know that many desperate people are willing to work for close to NOTHING when it comes to staying afloat and surviving.

Go ahead and justify the reason why you can't demand a higher pay wage. It seems to be the norm anyway. Keep listening to the media boast about our "bad economy" while passing through crowded shopping malls, shopping centers, and major traffic everyday. Some bad economy. :biggrin_25510:

Drivers :biggrin_255: That come straight from the horses mouth. Of course, we all know the #### a horse can talk. Usually worse than any truck driver you'll ever meet.

The problem is there are too many anchor babies over here willing to work for that. I am not even kidding. you put up an add here for 8.00 an hour and you will have 20 resumes a day, it is pretty sick.

They are only paying heavy haulers here 15.00 an hour. I think that is pretty sucky.

But you get what you pay for.

Generally it's only miles you are being paid so driving. But some companies will pay stop pay...meaning the more stops you have to make with your load the more they pay, but that doesnt count loading , or the final stop generally. Then there is detention pay which means,, if you are sitting at a dock longer than lets say two hours your company will then start charging them 15-20 bucks an hour and they will pay you 10-15 and hour to sit around waiting, there is also layover pay but that gets complicated to explain sometimes. So basically you are only paid for the miles you drive.
