I've taken my 30 minute break while waiting in traffic. I am now on paper logs but when on elogs I would switch to off duty whenever I got in traffic like that. I know someone who took there entire 10 hour break while sitting in traffic.
Wow what do you do in this situation?

Park the #### thing legally anywhere handy.
Then take advantage of a Law permitting extended hours due to specific situations such as this. Better be able to show evidence if you are challenged.
Ive had driving days ended before you got to another State. The last time that happened was north of crashville, ahem Nashville on 65, there was a fatal and that took 8 hours moving a mile to the next exit and park. 8 frigging hours sitting still.bzinger Thanks this. -
In that situation set the brakes and switch to sleeper berth. After 8 hours waiting you have all your drive hours back that you did not use prior to getting stuck there. The one good thing about E-logs, you don't have to know the split sleeper rule. Just log the 8 hours and the machine will reset you.

Negative. You are allowed another two hours once a week for unforeseen circumstances. Like an accident on the highway or similar. But regular rush hour traffic does not qualify.

It's been said yet nobody can show me. What I read was the 2 hour adverse condition rule extends your drive clock which is 11. 11+2=13. Not far from 16 but not 16 either. So again.....show me where adverse condition rule gives you 16 hours.
