It would seem to be a no brainer, but from an advertisers point of view full of pitfalls.
1. It is "general broadcast" advertising, just like a billboard. Advertisers are going with targeted advertising more and more. Hence the internet
2. But unlike a billboard no geographic component, like say advertising a restaurant at the next exit.
3. Hard to read unless the truck is standing still and you are at a 90 degree angle. Really hard to read when the trailer is spotted at some warehouse for 3 weeks 36" from the 150 other trailers there.
4. The public relations is part of it "that truck with the ad for Charmin Bath tissue just turned on his exhaust brake and scared the we we out of me". Then Proctor and Gamble gets a call about their inconsiderate truck driver, when they had nothing to do with it.
Just look at all the nice white blank trailers going down the road, someone would have sold the idea if anyone wanted it in any quantity
