the 210 always treats me pretty well.

i was thinking all that heat is a #### good way to break an exhaust valve, thats for sure. my fuel economy power turbo and everything else seems normal so im hoping its not anything serious, and if it is hopefully i caught it before i get a weeks vacation.

did they say what actually caused yours? if your burning a lot of fuel that means higher egt's and excessive heat breaks things. was it fuel related or what, minus all the internal damage aftermath?

    Hey Walstib,

If you are coming down into that area, take the 210 around if possible. It gets a little congested going through Burbank. I used to live in the Pasadena area and whenever I found myself north of 210 on the 5, I always made it a point to go around. Less traffic, although It's been since 2008 that I've lived there. You are delivering in Rancho? If so, you can park at the TA east or west on I10 when you get done, but they are $20. There are a couple small truck stops. One along Valley in Fontana just north of I10, and one really small place on Slover just south of I10. Both of those are free, but little if any services other than a wash bay.

If I remember correctly, take the 5 south to the 210 east, take it all the way to I15 south, that should put you right there somewhere. What jarhead said about the 5 getting congested is way true. Slow traffic ALL the time...anything you can to do get around it, the better. Oh, one note. Try to avoid the 210 east during afternoon commute as thats the direction of heaviest traffic.....

    STUCK in Davenport, IA

FML.....All roads out are closed due to People that can't plow the F***in Roads! Now I'm stuck in Davenport, IA 15 hours from the receiver and the DOT has NO idea when they might open the roads again! WTF

IOWA 80 the world biggest truck stop.....CLOSED! Because there 900+ parking spots are FULL and all of the Isles are full of trucks and everywhere else is snow, now everyone is stuck no one can get in OR out and they can't plow because they cant fit one in there......same thing for the TWO pilots at that exit so I had to come to the J down the street which is a Fluster Cluck! again no one in or out and can't plow because of trucks....Well I got in and found a driver going west and took his front row spot so I should be able to get out...I hope.

Oh and every road and ramp is LINDED with Trucks.....

And of course the broker is CLOSED because they cant get to work...and I cant get to the receiver and I can't get ahold of the broker to have them move the apt time.....

dont stress dude. thats basically the boat i was in a few weeks back in that snowstorm down south. i could have gotten out personally, but i was also one of like 3 people that actually had chains and the 80 trucks stuck in the isle of course didnt.

call the receiver yourself and move what you need to or just let them know the situation. i doubt your not the only one who wont be showing up on time. no need to be a hero, just be warm and safe. sitting sucks but i would bet money its better than being out on those roads right now.

Yep, I used to work right there in Pasadena at ELNK but lived in Arcadia, then up in Sierra Madre. It was bad enough on the surface roads but the backup on 210 made me very happy I didn't have to get on it during rush hour. When I changed jobs I had to drive to Irvine every morning and back in the afternoon. I'm sure I don't have to explain to you what a "treat" that was.

How ironic is that! Don't sweat it A.T. no one is going to hold it against you when the weather is like. Hell chances are where ever you are delivering to there is no one there anyway. It's a mess everywhere, according to my super dooper doppler! I know A.T. it burns you to just sit sometimes but sometimes you got to roll with the punches! You run pretty hard man so enjoy days like this. Take some time to make some memories out there! Just maybe a cute single trucker stuck in the same place you are! Look at Smurffette, she's stuck somewhere all by herself! -off subject- Actually I feel bad for the poor girl she just got done with her trainer and she's out there attacking the storm by herself! I think she was surprised about the amount of trucks piled up and stuck everywhere. Brave chicky that's for sure!
