Weed. Headed waaaaaaaaaay up north. Your version of north is far too south. Keep going up! Farther! Farther! Oh, nevermind. You've failed to go more north than north!

Okay, so I'm bored and I'm FINALLY getting loaded. Then I'll leave Weed and start heading north (do I hear an echo?) Not really. I DO hear the call of many frogs in the eerie darkness of the woods. I wouldn't mind it if I saw a random bear walking around right now.

Also, I'll take bets right now. I'll bet anyone $10 bucks that I'll hike up to Shasta summit right now, and make it back to my truck by sunrise! :biggrin_2559:

Too many "right nows" in this post!

    Have fun with your hike!

I'm going to go beyond bonkers by pulling a chair next to the Pilot fuel cashier and play a game of "stare". When asked about my odd behavior, I will present to them this ultimatum: Unblock the CAT scale that is coned-off so that I could weigh this heavy water load. This load is like a million pounds. How am I supposed to travel with the proper axle weights when the nearest CAT scale is located in Oregon PAST the first weigh station? I don't want what happened to me in Oregon like what happened in Maryland when I picked up a water load last year and got busted by DOT for having a heavy axle. The way this country is run as far as scale houses just seems extremely counter-productive. Why would someone set up a weigh station right before a truck stop?

This is why people travel out of route around scale houses.......

Doesn't your truck have a suspension guage on the tractors air bags? My old truck there had one and I was right on mark everytime I adjusted my trailer tandems to it, but I understand your concern, Oregon can be a pain if stopped. Be Good Be Safe TD24

I don't think that these Volvos have one. They might, but I've never seen one on a Volvo. But, I feel a sigh a relief! The load is under 46K pounds, so I wasn't worried about the total gross weight. Anything over 46K pounds and I wouldn't have accepted the load. It was the individual axle weights that I had to worry about after sliding the tandems to the 40 foot bridge law for California. I made it to the CAT scale in Oregon (legally and slightly off route of course :biggrin_2559:), and here are the weights for each axle pictured below. I got #### lucky this time. Next time I'm assigned a load to pick up in the Weed area, I'll probably end up rejecting it. It's too much of a hassle and a headache worrying about having the proper axle weights, especially when the scale at the nearby Pilot is shut down for whatever reason. Plus, there's always the threat of getting busted by DOT, having points against your license, getting negative marks on your record, etc. I'm not dealing with it again!

I'm going to take a break here in Phoenix to clear my mind, and then get moving again......to the north!!!! :biggrin_25514: :yes2557:
