See if you can get the pins from an old 3406A non Jake motor. The one usually used in Graders. Grip them firmly with a Vice grip and knock them out with a hammer, or place them in a bench vice and tap them out. The stems on you rocker shaft also comes out with a bit of convincing. Just replace them with the solid one, no oil pressure issues, and Bob is your uncle. Did it plenty of times.

so i would need to change the hardware which holds down the jakes to engine then with hardware from a non jake motor? then i can pull them off and rebuild?

    #### now all i have to do is find an older cat engine that someone is willing to part out just for those parts, here in miami almost impossible they want you to buy whole engine or head for just those parts DAMMM... do they sell these parts new anyone have part numbers.

No not the hardware. The jakes oil is fed trough a pin on top of the rocker shaft. If you take the jakes of leave the pedestals which it bolts onto. No hardware Change. All you have to do is find the solid pins. I will get a pic for you so can get a better idea of whats going on underneath the jakes.

    flc120 Thanks this.

photo0328_001[1].jpg If you can see the pin on top of the rocker shaft, underneath the bolt that holds the rocker shaft, that's what youre looking for.

so the entire hollow pin would have to come off the head and then install the solid pins in there place? do i have to take a rocker out of adjustment in order to do so?

how many of these pins are underneath each jake brake head assembly? can these be purchased new and if so any part numbers?

The jakes are only fed from the ones in front. There are 4 in total, 2 hollow, and 2 solid, with a motor with jakes. 4 in total for a motor with no jakes. No need to take the rocker shaft off to remove the hollow pin. It could be a bit difficult to get them out though. A Vice Grip works best. Your local CAT dealer should be able to look up the part nr for you. Just a note, no use swapping the front and rear pins. The rocker shaft is hollow i.e oil pressure front and rear of rocker shaft.
