2% of billions is still a hefty profit, though. I don't see any oil company executives suffering!!!!!

Diesel is more expensive than gasoline here now. I never thought I'd ever see that :biggrin_25513:

Well the way I look at it, the oil industry is another huge money making gig. Out here in Wyoming, if you come and see the oil industry boom going on right now, you will see how much bling these guys have. Bling as far as money, not gold chrome, lol.

They are laying down pipeline like crazy. The welders make over 60 bucks an hour and all their supplies are I think bought for them or they are reimbursed. Their trucks make money per hour as well. They are building new tanks for oil at the Sinclair refinery as well as replacing their other tanks. Companies like Haliburton (Dick Cheney doesnt have a hand in that...noooooo, lol), Schlumberger and others work with the oil comps to work on rigs and get them up and running, keep them running, or restart them, or improve their flow. Lots of other companies out here delivering water to the pumps and such. The average truck driver hauling water can make 75k a year which is the same average pay that drivers for Sinclair get as well delivering oil and gas across the state and into UT.

The oil execs make oodles of money each year, plus get bonuses as well as retirment perks (extra oodles) and contract incentives such as "hey, come and work with us and we will give you an extra 40million!" That and the fact that they have like 34342423thousand friggen CEOs, CFOs, COOs, COWs, and other three letter combinations as executives. All making a salary of "keep writing zeros until you are happy"

Now think of the fact that it is cheaper to refine oil into diesel than it is gasoline and ponder the fact that diesel is more expensive at the pumps..and if you have to question why its more expensive, thats really sad. The oil companies know that our trucks get next to nothing per gallon as far as mileage and that everything that exists in this country is due to those gas guzzling hogs...well if they raise the price up per gallon, they make even more. A TON more.

My main beef is that when people say the industry is struggling or whatever and people stand up for them, they fail to realize that the next week, the companies will post another record setting profit earning quarter. The fact is...they are earning more and more money but they aren't doing anything with it. No refineries are being built because for one...they would have to pay for them..and two, if they did build more, that would more likely lower the price of fuel, and theres no point in that from their perspective.
