Headed north on I-25 from Colorado Springs. I believe there's a POE in WYO on the south bound side. Does PrePass get me through unscathed or is it a mandatory stop regardless of how good looking I think I am?

Headed north and worried about south side maybe you need a nap. North bound 25 is a prepass site.

the prepass site shows that its transponder and motion. but if youre as good looking as you say, then you should be used to pulling in and sitting on the scales :) :):D

This is a question I have been meaning to ask, but forgot.

Two years ago I spent the day driving through WY and had to present my paperwork inside 3 times in one day at 3 separate scalehouses. Ever since I have hated that state, even though I was fully legal and didn’t get a violation.

I told this story to another driver and he said I only had to stop at the first one and I could have ignored the other two. Was this guy full of BS? or was he right?

Yes ifta and registration is what they always ask for. I usually just go over the scale and dont go in for paperwork. Waste of time. Maybe @Cattleman84 has some better insight about if u should go inside ?

If you run pre-pass, it takes a day or two for the update to propagate into the system.

I just ordered a pre-pass so I’m wondering if you could clarify. Do you mean if he had gotten checked out at the first one and a day or two iPads Ed before he went through another one he probably would’ve been cleared and not been called in to the others?

I run WY every week... If you are just driving through the state they usually will only have you come in with paperwork at the first scale you roll over.

BUT, if you either deliver or pickup in WY you may be asked to bring paperwork inside at the next scale you cross.

Before COVID I almost always got asked to bring in paperwork at the Kemmerer scale house when east bound. Now they only call me inside if they want to do an inspection.

If you drive past a scale, or dont go inside when asked, they will and do write down that you run the scale... I have personally witnessed this a few times while I was inside presenting my paperwork.

According to a WYDOT officer I spoke to, WY only cares about scaling you when you enter the state... Unless your load changes inside the state.

All the officers are very nice to deal with in my experience. If thier computer system is working correctly they usually only ask for your paperwork once per visit, or every few days in the state. But sometimes thier computers don't update the main system, this is more prefvolent of a problem in the winter time during really bad weather.

Unless they give an inspection they only check registration, IFTA, and ask what you are hauling.

Probably doesn't apply to the OP, but if you're OS, stopping is mandatory regardless of PrePass, but only at entry, unless directed otherwise.

I also ran WY every week (I-90 Sheridan, I-25 Cheyenne) for an extended period and my experience was mixed.

Sheridan was generally good, but I had a couple of twits, one that tried to write me a citation for a violation that doesn't exist (it was on the Canadian portion of my trip). Cheyenne seemed to be perpetually grumpy; I seem to recall one of their officers grumbling to me about "management" when he was measuring my load. I met one of the most pleasant officers at the POE on WY-85 just south of Cheyenne. She didn't even write me up for altering my route (OS, can't remember why, but I had a good reason).

Last two times I entered WY from CO northbound on 1-25, they had me come in to show paperwork.

Also note that, there are two weigh stations between Colorado Springs and Cheyenne, the first being north of Loveland, CO, then the one as you enter WY.
