Comcast finally turned this option on in my area. It sounds like a good idea but is so restrictive and time consuming it is almost useless. The concept is that any shows that record to the DVR after the service is turned on, can then be downloaded to a table, in my case an iPad, so you can watch the shows off line. Great concept till you see what is involved.
When you download the show it prevents anyone from watching the show on the DVR until you return it back to the DVR. Once you have it on the iPad, you can't sling it to a ROKU or chrome cast device to put it on a larger TV. You can't even use the HDMI mirroring plug that is available, because the Comcast app blocks that port. The shows can only be viewed on the tablet. Works great and doesn't cost any cellular data once the show is on the tablet.
The next issue is it takes about 1 hour to download an hour show. Comcast said it has to do with going to the cloud, then going to the tablet. What ever the reason, when I have 100mbps download and 10mbps upload at the house, 1 hour per show is just too slow. I took 5 shows with me and spent most of Sunday babysitting my iPad to do it. I'm thankful I have the shows for when I'm not in a 4g area. I normally watch my shows from a sling box I installed at home. One of the better tech things I've bought to make life more pleasant on the road. I think Comcast is on the right track with the DVR to go, but the implementation is less than ideal. I wouldn't recommend switching to Comcast just for this service.

Sling box is great. Then just get somer combo of Amazon, Hulu plus, or Netflix. Soon HBO streaming will be a standalone service.
I have no cable at home, just antenna and windows media center with amazon and Netflix.
I was really hoping for Aereo but the #### govt shut it down. How was aereo different than the new comcast DVR slinging? -

Wow! Just found out I can stream my DVR as well. Still can't sling it from the iPad to my flat screen in the truck though.
