Try looking into satellite Internet connection. Hues or something like that.

I consider myself a hardcore gamer. Only reason I drive my truck is so I can make money to play my games. Also I am an owner operator, and a bedbugger at that. So I spend allot of time on the road. And allot of down time on the road which makes it perfect for my gaming addiction. And over the years I have looked really hard for the best possible solution to internet connections so I can play online. Your going to have to accept that you cannot play FPS's or any twitch game in multiplayer mode. Your just not going to get a good enough ping. and with FPS's its all about the ping. For a good gaming exsperience your going to want less then 100ms, If you want to be a top player it needs to be less then 50MS.
With a satilite your looking at 300-500ms latency. It just takes along time for the signal to go from earth up to the satilite and back down again, plus all the other regular networks it has to go threw.
Data cards (I uses sprint, currently have the overdrive). Anywhere from 100-1500ms with an average of 300-400ms. although in a couple area's around the country you can get down in the 50's, For instance in Tacoma, WA I can get a good enough connection on my data card to play black ops. It was acualy kinda funny when I loged on last time, my friends knew I was not home yet and thought it odd I was playing, I had a higher 75-100ms range, and just told them I was giving them a handicap.
Then you have the WIFI option. Many truck stops have wifi. Although this is also location dependant. Some locations have great wifi connections, good enough to get you a good enough ping time. But most are horrid. And even if you do find a good connections, your speed depends on the rest of the trucks in the parking lot, you get a few guys watching porn, and its going to affect your gaming and you ping is going to bounce all over the place.
Now with that said there are games out there that can be played in multiplayer just fine on these connections. RTS's, MMO's, RPing.... basicaly all the none twitch games where mili-secounds do not mean the difference between life or death, or the time from when you push the button to shoot at the target, and the target still being at that location once the packet reaches its destination.
As far as bandwith goes, online gaming does not consume vasts amounts of bandwidth. Your looking at 10-30KB/s add in anouther 20 for voice coms. So at 30KB's 1 hour a day 30 days a month comes out to 3gigs.
Sprints current data structure is 5gigs a month for 3G (which depending on where you are driving will be about 65 percent of your time) and unlimited for 4G.
At any rate nice to see more gaming truckers out there. Maybe one day we will get a truely viable network system that will prove excelent for FPS's. I would love to be able to take my agression out on human controlled pixels at the end of every day, thinking of that stupid 4-wheeler that cut me off earlier. Until then get rid of your sux-box and get a real gaming platform, PC.Dieselboss Thanks this. -
You can try but it usually wont work much. Really all you could use live for is game updates or dlcs.
Personally, I canceled my live account and just play single player games. -
