Anybody find a good mounting method+location for an xm antenna on a 2012....the aero mirrors and the cb antenna's beaing by the sleeper is making it hard to find a good spot/mounting method.
I currently have the antenna stuck to the top of the passenger side mirror (using the double sided foam sticky), and it works ok....too close to the side of the truck...this truck is a midroof....
Anybody see any mounts that work or have any places that work good?

My 2012 has its own xm antenna it came with the truck. Look on the roof towards the back on passenger side if you see a little black thing that's the antenna. I ordered mine with a xm radio so maybe yours doesn't have it but its worth a shot. If you see that black thing up there the other end is prolly behind your radio

guess that option was an extra $$ option, or only came when speced with a radio with built in xm. -
Try a 90degree cb antenna mount where there visor bolts to the cab....

thought of just sticking it up in that general area with some sticky foam, but then have the issue of a flopping wire...simply no place to run it behind. -
I found a thin L shaped metal the size of the antenna. ON the inside of the cab I slid it into the rubber and glass on the bottom of the front window towards the middle. bent the metal so it lay flat. The magnet holds its place fine. I don't have any reception problems from there.

Tried that in my columbia, but didn't work....but with the bugger slopped windshield, i guess it might work better!!
thanks! -
How about a "bird perch" mirror mount? These mounts were specifically designed for the Cascadia and can be found in some CB shops. They look like a simple stainless steel post with a 3-inch thread on one side. You simply take out one of the screws from the mirror and replace with the post. They were created to solve the issue of Cascadia drivers having no way to install mirror mounted antennas on the vehicle. When I installed mine I found there was enough room to put on my XM antenna, and it works great!

I thought about doing that myself but I thought having it mounted that low the cab would sometimes interfere with line of site for the satellite. Will keep this in mind, thanks.ZippyNH Thanks this. -
i have it stuck to tge top of the pass side mirror...
Going north or northeast i loose my signal...
So i need it higher, or in a more clear spot....
i tried to stick it just above the windshield today....ran the wire around the edge behind the weather stripping/gasket....
I hope by getting it higher, and in a spot with a better, more realilable view of the southern sky (where the xm geostantionary orbited satellites are...).
I'll post back if it works well....
