So I tried to mount my satalite radio antenna on the back of my truck and the dang cord is too short to reach the radio. Can I splice the cord??? Maybe a cb tech at a truck stop could do it??? I know they make extension cords but I don't get home very often and I haven't seen any at truckstops.
The basic antenna on the dash is not cutting it. It seems to be fuzzing out more than it works.
Help???

BTW...I drive a T700 KW. So there are few options for mounting other than behind the cab.
-
Now why would you do that? Just put it on the mirror like everyone else and it will work fine.

If you just do a search on XM Radio Extension cables you will find a few. It will depend on the two end connectors. So, it would good to call the folks at the above link.
Thanks,

buy one of the metal plates made to attach the magnet antennae to, remove one of your cb antennae place the place and screw the antenae back down it holds the plate perfectly. any truckstop has them 10.99 at most places

I was able to get around it by purchasing a couple of "bird perch" mounts made especially for that truck. You simply back out one of the screws holding the mirror and replace it with the mount. I wonder if anyone makes something like that for KW? -
I have a T2000, but have seen other drivers doing what I have done.
Same mirrors.
I purchased the antenna that is about 1" square x 1/2" tall. used velcro to attach to the top of my mirror. Opened up mirror (six screws) ran wire thru mirror, then zip tied to arm, ran in door.
Always works fine, no permanent attachment to truck, very un noticeable. -
i ran my stock cord out the door, above the fuel tank, behind my headache rack, and it stuck to where my quallcomm satellite sits, with about 3 extra feet of cord.
