    Hey all;

    I am installing the magnetic XM Satellite antenna onto a 2007 Volvo VN 780. I am not sure WHERE I should run the wire through to get it to the dash? I assume I might place it on the sleeper cab area then I could run it through the window(?) and behind the dash but not real sure if that's the best way.:dontknow:

    Has anyone ever installed this antenna (I cannot use the mirror mount antenna's so I have to stick to the cheap magnetic mount one) if you have I would really appreciate your experience in doing this.

    Thanks in advance all.

    Mrktwiz/John

    Hey I have a 780 as well,I used 2 sided tape to stick ant. on roof just above visor on drivers side ,then ran wire along grove to door jamb then behind weatherstip, into cab ,along dash below then into fuse panel on top of dash, works great, i made a loop of wire when it came out of weatherstip so it would not pinch as easy stay away from any 90 degree turns to protect wire as much as you can . It is a very fragile wire. Hope this helps.

    Not sure why you can't use the mirror mount antenna. I have on on my Volvo. I attached it to the smaller "cross-bar" that attaches to the mirror to the door. I run the wire down the mirror on the inside closest to the cab, using zip ties to attach it to the top and bottoms of the mirror mount. I run it in the door right at the base of the mirror mount. I zip tie the wire to the hand hold just inside the passenger door, then across the dash to the receiver. Hope that helps.

    Flood and Wanderlust;

    2 GREAT idea's thank you. I am kinda leaning to Floods sunroof idea, it is KISS simple and that is good for me. I want to later on, get a Mirror mount but I am trying to watch the dollars right now, and Floods idea is cheap and thats how I roll, LOL I am CHEAP!

    Thanks again everyone I SO appreciate all the help!

    btw i also had my gps antenna & sirius antenna (yes i had both sirius & xm back then) all up in the skylite and the only time any of them didn't work was way up north (wi.mn,mi) if i was driving north, then it may cut out a little.

    thanks for the tips,, I also have a 780, I went along the molding on lower windshield to the passenger side corner, over behind handrail and went up behind the rubber that is on the inside of the cab, on top of door go out under the rainrubber seal (protect the cabel with some tape), I think it is better to go on passenger side, cause door is not used that often,, then go up behind sunvisor an attach magnet with some Velcro,, I think cab is out of polyester or what ever,, not magnetic.. I have now good signal,, job shouldn't take that long,, 40 min or so.. ciao
