Well, what did you expect, initiative? In fact, I've picked up so many trailers with low air in tires: I carry my own glad hand air supply, two tire guages, and do it that way. I run all tires at 100psi, by the way. Gets kind of tricky from North Dakota to Laredo sometimes. If some shop mechanic told me he'd taken care of it, I wouldn't believe him. It may be cynical, but to me it's my load, my safety, and my backside, my responsibility means my taking care of it. I would never leave a pickup trusting in someone else's work or promises. My truck, my load, my responsibility. Think about it that way, tell me what you get. Oh, one other thing. Even the best, most focused mechanic/shop person is a human being. Remember, no human being is perfect, so even a great worker can slip up. It happens.Big Don and AfterShock Thank this.

I don't know who is messing around or if someone gave a real answer. NO IT IS NOT A MAGNET.
It is a low clearance gauge. Since yard dogs do not crank up landing gear, it is low to the ground even after the yard tractor lifts up. If the bar in front does not clear something on the ground like a curb or speed bump, neither will the landing gear on the trailer behind. This bar is to give the yard tractor driver warning of the hazard.AfterShock and Giggles the Original Thank this. -
is there some reason it can't do that with a magnet?AfterShock Thanks this.

I am 100% positive it is a magnet, and a strong one. I worked briefly as a mechanics helper in a truck shop, the magnet picked my wrench right off the floor

Ah! What good and where would TTR be without a little issue fog, consternation and controversy? Eh?
I ask you...Dan.S, AfterShock and Big Don Thank this. -
