Was driving east bound on 94 in Michigan, around 3:30am. and I was getting a little sleepy. So I decided to stop and take a quick nap, but the rest area and a few of the truck stops on 94 were packed. So I parked on an off ramp and crawled in the bunk. About 30 minutes later I heard someone knocking on my door and it was a State Trooper. He asked what I was doing and I told him that I was getting tired and needed a break. So he wrote me a ticket for illegal parking on a ramp.
Yeah, first ticket...
Yeah, first ticket

Not a big ticket, but if you run the area regularly, it would be worth taking to court. I have got out of a few (3) Traffic related tickets by pleading not guilty, and showing up to trial, only to have the ticketing officer not show up. Thrown out automatically.

I've done that in Michigan before on that stretch because there are not many places to stop and nap. I put out triangles and when the cop woke me up I said I was waiting for the repair truck. Slept a few hours, then on my way I went.
doubledragon5, panhandlepat and Roadmedic Thank this. -

Your civil penalty (fine) will probably be $80.00.

Failure to obey highway sign...there was no betting out of it either. -
I got a 92 in a 55 in VA on 81. Paid a lawyer $300 and he did everything for me, I did not have to go back to VA. He got it reduced to a equipment violation and I got a $400 fine.
