I'll be curious to know too. There is a terminal in Colorado Springs, if you can call it that. And I see them on the road here all the time.
I'll step back and watch for replies with ya..........

As Far as im aware its a tough gig to get into Same as Wal-Mart and USF..
And i might have it backwards but i think ya Yellow bought out 2 of USF's 3 companies that were going under last year
i remember that it killed my Miles when it got sold, i loved running USF it is perty simlar to running Walmart and you can Get planned perty deep.. loads are always ready b4 you get there no waiting...

But i really dont know what there hiring Requirments are or what there actual pay is either it may be salry

most of the union LTL companies are tough starting out, depending on the
    situation and place though

i know of a ups feeder driver that did seasonal for 6 years before getting
    hired on

there is also some guys where i work that has worked for roadway and holland
you could work for 90 days and get dumped. its easy to try if you dont have
a job but if you have a decent job its a tough decision to roll the dice

from what i was 'privy" to a long time ago, most times a person is hired on as a "casual" driver. now, a casual driver actually earns more than a union driver (for yellow) but doesn't get any benefits. a casual driver i once "knew of" told me that he wanted to stay a casual driver, as he always worked, filling in for vacation drivers, sick drivers, and extra freight. now, if he were to go "union" he would take a pay cut for about 1-3 years, but get all the full benefits.

also, i do believe that anyone going to yellow, would actually start doing P&D (pick-up and delivery) better known as city/local work, so expect very long hours there as you would be the "bottom" driver, and end up with all the lousey runs which take forever to do each day. and, if you return with too much undelivered freight, or fail to make your pick-ups, expect to see the unemployment line with in say about 4 weeks time............

This is true....If they meaning USF in particular is doing any hiring they have the jobs listed on their website and you start out as a casual for a few months, then you will obtain your letter for HIRE.

This is for both CITY and LINEHAUL driver's.

What kind of INFO do you want or need on YELLOW?

I could fill 15 pages on them...so I thought I would better ask first...and maybe make my statements shorter.

yes and no! i have been there for years and most of the the time they will step over a dollar to pick up a penny!! if you have no union time at all i would stay away but if you need a job then take it, but!! they are on there way out! sooner or later! they do run terminal to terminal and around the clock you have a log book and your trip sheet. been good to me but they are in trouble. good luck!!! Frank.
