Yep, a bobtail u-turn and safety is all over me about it.

It is a jb hunt thing. I was with a small dedicated account of theirs delivering goodyear tires for the first five years and the safety guy there just ignored the policy thinking it crazy. But then I moved to Tennessee and switched over to jb hunt's intermodal fleet out of Atlanta and soon as I hit the accelerator i got called in by safety and was told "Oh Hell no!" Immediate termination.
But like I said I am glad it happened because otherwise I would have to be driving in and out of Atlanta every day.

That’s a good question. And why I posted this in the first place. bottom line is they have my on camera clearly making a uturn in a bobtail and they’re big mad at me. Stevens was barely tolerable as it was. Now I want. Hoping someone here had leads to carriers who don’t have sticks up their bums

They are letting me sweat it out. Have to go to a 4 hours class tomorrow, get observed driving by a “red shirt” and then get chewed out by boss man.
I know those things are happening. The only thing I don’t know is if they’re gonna fire me for this.

either way, they caught me. It’s their policy. If they do fire me I don’t see myself arguing it. I just want out. No experienced driver should be treated like this.
I’ve worked for two other companies, neither of which cares about uturns. Still didn’t do em.

I’m a good driver, still looking for leads. Can be anywhere. Hell, I’ll move for regional local even.

Just tell the guy in safety you thought you were in Detroit.

Go to Louisville ups worldport they hire people in off the street at this time of the year. I pulled a pup that the package cars couldn't handle to residential and had a helper "teamlift" he was a big ole guy that was into fitness so he really didn't need me so I was his chauffeur while he got his workout in. It was a good setup.
It's a very strange setup aswell driving a daycab around residential areas. Wasn't too bad though.

Pay is prob like $50 an hr or more for off street hires. Hell I made like 38 an hour when Obama was president. I loved Obama I made a lot of money when he was president and it was still worth something unlike the past couple two.
They offered me a 100k + job after peak but I wasn't interested in local work. Sure they will prob do the same for you.

My neighbor used to run for JB Hunt and we got talking about how when they first got the trucks with automatic braking of course they were always going off unnecessarily for bridge joints, overhead signs and shadows on the roads so most drivers got into the habit of keeping their foot on the accelerator to keep it from doing that. Well then a driver fell asleep with his foot to the floor and ran through a work zone killing a worker so they banned overriding the cruise with the accelerator.

My neighbor said he got written up for it but not fired, but then he had 2 hard braking events in the same day in Northern New Jersey so they parked him for like 4 days as punishment away from home and made him take online classes before they would let him run. That was the last straw for him and he quit and got a local yard jockey job at a medium sized company. He is way happier and just got onto 1st shift and says he is making way more money.

Yeah, good for your neighbor. That’s kind of where I’m at except I would like to stay OTR.

Also, I don’t understand how you could look at a situation like that and not conclude that the issue there is a driver falling asleep behind the wheel. For a safety oriented fleet, they sure do like to keep you on the yard for days or even weeks and then you’re let loose and driving like a bat out of hell because we have bills to pay. Seriously, I’m starting to get why neither of my trainers nor any other driver I’ve met pays rent or owns a house. Not enough home time, not enough pay.
    Recipe for loneliness and alienation

JB hunt drivers scare me more with thier antics than any other carrier I see on the road! They never fail to amaze me with thier next stupid move.
