it doesn't have to be that bad.

I drove for over 35 yrs, OTR, bought a house, raised 2 kids, out lived 2 wives, owned 2 cars, paid for, couple of old British motorcycles.

also didn't make over 50K/yr, wives had medium pay jobs that helped.

now, retired and living on 2K/month S/S with a mortgage and still have money left for beer and a bottle of Old Grand Dad, once in a while! lol.

I’ve done the house purchasing thing already, bought right as the market in Dallas was going to crap. Finding it difficult to make enough at this job with all of the roadblocks. I bought it when I was local making net 1800/wk. I find I actually spend my money better OTR and im able to see my friends scattered across the country. And I figured I’d be making more money or at least the same amount.
    No way with these guys.
Im sure it’ll work out for me, I just feel like there’s much greener pastures elsewhere that aren’t bogged down with what is essentially unpaid work.

Gps sensors and cameras tied to the truck ecm everything a truck does can be monitored, recorded exact locations, time stamps, videos, etc, etc. 21st century trucking. Somebody with too much time on their hands watching him from a computer or digging on one and looking for some dirt.

It’s probably not even as petty as that. I would bet good money they have a forward facing camera that is monitored by AI and a third party. AI detects any number of things, speeding, following to closely, not fully stopping at a stop sign, ect. That goes to a third party to review and if it meets the criteria the carrier has established, it gets forwarded to safety.
That’s how it works it my company, we just have people that review the footage and use their few remaining braincells.

Yeah that's what it was, and that's how it works. It's a service carriers subscribe to basically.

Back before internet and cell phones it was Markel Safety Services. They had agents all over the country that cruised the highways monitoring clients trucks. They would send in reports for speeding, following to close, lane violations, and all sorts of stuff. They have been around since the 50's.

I’d trust the truck snitch more than them .. didn’t they get sued for making up false reports to justify their job lol
