So apparently there are quite a few threads on this issue, but I gotta I ask. So I'm 21 and am interested in becoming a driver. Now queue the drumroll. I have two 15 over speeding tickets, the first being in March 07' and the second June 07'. Those are my only violations. Ive talked to a couple CDL colleges but I think they'll tell you just whatever you wanna hear. So do I fighting chance.
Thanks
Yep, another driving record question.

if it's 3 years, then in 2010 (of each date you posted) they fell down a bit...but if your state goes to 5 years, then you are screwed....
15 MPH over the limit (with a CDL mind you) are MAJOR traffic violations.
since you do not have a CDL, it would really depend on how each individual trucking company will view those tickets when you apply for a job..... remember a trucking company can order up all your driving history if they want to....so you may NOT be in the clear after say a 3 year drop down period......those tickets will remain on your record for life......it's how far back any company is will to pay for....
suffice it to say/ask.....you got that speeding bug out of your system now...?? because in trucking, you WILL LOSE YOUR LICENSE.......for a period of time.....if you ain't...... -
The last time I checked, colorado uses the 7 year MVR.
Hopefully that has changed to 3 year.
If the report does go 7 years, it will make things very tough on you. -
Before going to get your CDL and spending all that money, try calling around to some companies and getting at least a few prehires. I'm sure you can get your CDL, but what's the point if you can't get a job once you have it? When you talk to the personnel people, tell them straight up about the tickets. They have guidelines right in front of them and should be able to say whether it will fly at their company or not.
21 now...so you were 17 or 18 when you got those tickets. If 17, it may be easier to get past them since you were a minor. Whatever happens, do NOT go get a DUII! That's what we've been seeing a lot of lately and that would end your career before it even started. Or at least put it on hold for about ten years.
Some companies will not hire you until you're 23. Age discrimination, I know, but not sure how to fight that one since the age discrimination laws were passed to help out those with "old fart" status...something I'm well on my way to.
Good luck to you and let us know how it goes. -
That's going to be tough but probably doable. Start calling around to the different companies and talk to recruiters. Your best bet will be the smaller companies, better off going that route anyway. Good luck to you!

Some insurance companies say no to more than one major violation during the past 5 years. Most of the abstract services used to hire truck drivers report 5 - 7 years history.
Your best bet is some local company, try loggers or other rough 'N tumble local places. By the summer of 2012 you will be close to 23 and ready to consider a company that has to follow closer to the rules...
