Erie area is awful in the winter because of the complete incompetence of the PENNSYLVANIA government. I-90 Wet roads in Ohio, 48 miles of white knuckle terror in PA and then wet roads in NY. Completely unacceptable from the state with such high fuel taxes.
Yet another blasted question from a rookie O/O (God help us all!)

Is a fair weather driver the same as a solar powered one? lol
If didn't want to put up with local weather, I would run long haul and only come home when I wanted or needed too.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -

I agree with what some others have said about running southern lanes if the freight is available. Or what I'd think about also is maybe find a good used reefer or dry van and run them in the winter in areas that will run you the hardest. People always say they wont do one type if work cause they're too proud of what work they do do, but money is money. When reefer freight slows down for me I haul cattle to fill in the dead spots. Bill's dont take the winter off and i will always find ways to make money.

I live in the area also. I watch the weather, gets down in the teens temp wise or a storm front coming through I lay up at home. Worst case I get couple weeks total at home and best cast about a month.
