Without the experience you would be throwing your money away. Get with a company drve for 6m with them then buy your truck, drive for 1 year with your truck and then you can move where you want unless you do a lp then you stuck til paid or you get financing to get title to move

If you're talking about the company lease/purchase programs, I know allll about those programs hahaha, no way in hell I'd go there. Good advice though, thanks.

With what little experience you have I see you having a hard time starting out even with your own truck don't get me wrong it MAY be possible but I think finding a company that will hire you will be hard pressed I would agree with these guys take a refresher drive a company at least 6 months then decide where to go from there just a suggestion.

If your dead set on starting out with your own truck before buying I would at least hunt down a company that says they will take you on I did this but I had two years OTR with companies and for 5 years worked for a construction outfit that I drove a bunch of different equipment for but they did not report me as a driver just a labor that had cdl could not find a company that would take me without a refresher and a few weeks with a trainer just as if I had no experience.
Finally changed my plans and looked at a few trucks thought what the heck made a call to a small company that had O/O's got lucky but mainly because a guy I know had put in a good word for me they ran my info said they would take me if I got a truck I went out and bought on the next day on the cheap (7000 truck and 53'box I found on ebay) but made sure it was DOT legal and ran fairly good I knew It was a major risk but it worked out I made enough with it to buy a bit better one 6mths down the road.
Mind you I did have what they called two years verifiable experience even though the last 5 had not been. So I will not say it can't be done just suggesting a different route.

Thanks, much appreciated advice... I'm beginning to see that experience may be my biggest hurdle in this idea (understandable), in which case I may have to go the refresher and couple weeks with trainer route. Sometimes I think I just have to suck it up and go that route and then my next thought is getting that a-hole trainer. Just something I don't want to deal with.

    Fixed it for you.

You have no experience. You can buy all the trucks you want.

Until you have experience, welcome back to boot camp.
Where you will be broken down and built back up.

The insurance companies have more way over employers than ever before. With no practical experience, you will have a very difficult time leasing (your own truck) on with anyone.

We're not hear to give you good vibes all day long.
We will give you honest answers to difficult questions. If you don't want those answers, don't ask questions.

    Dinomite Thanks this.

some people have started on a shoestring budget & made it. some started with little or no experience & made it. some have started with all the experience & some money & have failed miserably... more than once too. have faith in what you do. make wise decisions & pray every day!

Thank you so much, finally an honest, respectful comment.

Sorry, I shouldn't say that. A lot of good people have given me some awesome advice, just got frustrated with a small group of haters! :biggrin_25516:
