I know they have recruiters but who trusts them, right
So my question is: I live in Chattanooga and have many big cities just about 2 hours away. What are the chances of me making many small runs, still making my payments, and with possibly 4 nights at home?
I know that's rare but nothings impossible and I hate hearing that.
If I had the credit or money I'd buy my own truck, but I don't. So I gotta be someone's ##### for a couple years, work hard until my truck is mine. Then I'll be a free man!
I don't plan on waiting around for a load to come to me either. God willing, my wife can quit her job, be a stay at home mom and sweet talk some agents for me!
Also, if anyone has a better recomendation for a better company, I don't "bleed gold". I just need to use a l/p company to further my life and my family's life. So long as its a decent program with the possibility of me being home 70% of the week, I'll go anywhere.
Thanks for any input.
(if you have negative input, give it to me, but don't try and sell me out of this. Just give me solid info ;o) )
Yet another CRST MALONE question :)

Well...I'm in the process of reading it right now, actually. I haven't seen anything specific that would turn me away from them...yet. Of course I'm not done reading all of it.

even when the truck is paid off you will be the trucks @#@#@ just sayin it will own you

Well that's fine. I love working hard, I love driving. I love the pride that goes along with that and ownership. I just really like flat bedding and I really really want to get into heavy hauling, get my own step deck. But someone with no money down an no credit, I gotta start somewhere and work my way up to that. Getting on a l/p with a company like this seems my only option. I'm already 30 with a family, so saving 10 years just ain't gonna work.
Good or bad idea? I'm not a quitter, I don't really want to give up on my "goals". -
Jas7887,
There used to be a guy on this forum who was a lease purchase driver with Malone. He claimed that they treated him right, that he got a good deal, and that he made a lot of money, suppossedly over $200K in 2010.
I'm not promoting them, just sharing what he said. And, he seemed pretty happy. -
Hmmm...if you remember his name let me know! Thanks

From what I have heard about l/p programs I don't think it will be possible to make the weekly truck payment and still make enough money to live on and be home 70% o the week.those payments will come out every week so the wheels would have to be turning just as if you had a monthly payment. All the l/p operators I read about on here stay out a good while at a time so I'm sure they can give u a better insight on this than I can

One of the first things I looked at when considering l/p programs is where the loads come from. Can I get my own loads or am I depending on what the company gives me. Malone is nice because you can get your own freight as well as hauling theirs. I talked to a lease operator on the phone who had been with them 2 years and he did well. Your hometime may be a problem. I know we have a landstar agent on these forums who is in TN he may be able to give you an idea about freight in that area. But based on the hometime you want you may have trouble making what you will need. Your fixed costs will run close to $800/week before the truck moves a mile.
I'm sure it's quite easy to GROSS $200k, but the net is what's important. What good is grossing $200k when you only take home $40k. You busted your hump for about the same a company driver makes.
Now I know there is money in short runs because only the smart drivers want them. Yeah this load is only 150mi, but it pays $3/mi. Knock out a bunch of those and you could do well and be home a lot, if you can find those type of loads.Jas7887 Thanks this.
