Here's the deal I've been wanting to get my cdl class A for over a year now but don't have funds for school and also have a family to support. I've been doing research on all these "BIG" companies that offer to get you training for your cdl but my problem is I'll sit there and spend hours reading about said companies on there websites and Google and say ok this sounds good then I'll do a search for them on here and all I see is oh they suck and they lie and blah blah blah horror stories. So here's what I need and hopefully you all can help me out.

    1. Paid CDL training because I am the only one with income and have a gf a 3yr old and a sick father to support.

    2. Fair home time anywhere from 2 days home for 1 week out to 4-5 days home for 2 weeks out or something similar to that. I do know that as an inexperienced person at first it will suck and I'm ok with that untill I have some experience.

3.Good pay with good miles who can live off of 25 cpm or less that just sounds awful.

And here's a little bit about my self my father and uncles have always driving semis and I always enjoyed riding with them so I know I'll enjoy it. I'm 23 with no accidents, no tickets, no criminal record I'm as clean as a whistle in all aspects. I also already have my dot drug test and physical paper work because I currently drive a 16 ft box truck and have driven a 26ft box truck with air brake.

Also I'm located in auburndale fl.

Thank you to all that help me start my career.

    Dominick253 Thanks this.

Using Google to research trucking companies is OK, but try to read between the lines a little. Some complaints are legit and some are from whiners that are never satisfied. There's companies out there I don't particularly care for and wouldn't work for, but they're a good fit for others.

Have you looked at free cdl trainiing through the state? Many times the state will pay for cdl school for the underemployed/unemployed. Some schools have night or weekend classes for those that can't afford to go full time without a paycheck.
Talk to the unemployment office about that program before making a final decision on which is best for you to obtain the Class-A CDL.

Auburndale is a good location for reefer freight. I've hauled dozens of loads of orange juice and Juicy-Juice from that area. Prime Inc. trucks swarming the area.

If you get your Class-A then look at CTL Transportation. Their tanker training is in Tampa. Shouldn't have any problem with good hometime there and also good paychecks. This company might even pay for cdl school. At one time they had their own school in Florida and provided lodging & meals. Don't know if they still do or not.

I did I contacted career source in my area the answer given to me was call back in june. Didn't specify if that's when they would have classes or funding just literally call back in June and that's it

That's what I would do then. Call in June and see if it works out. If not, there's other options.

As for ctl/ comcar that is my first choice if they can get me my cdl. I've looked into them quite a bit they seam to pay good and have a location about ten min away from me. Only thing that sucks is the auto trucks. I called a recruiter today but after 25 min on hold no luck will try again asap

I love automatic transmissions. Switched from stick shift to auto while pulling tankers and it takes a lot of stress out of a long driving day.

    .
I really appreciate you taking time out of your day to try and help. For a few personal reasons it would be best for me to get into a truck sooner than later so waiting till June is rather difficult but I will really consider it because it seams to be the most beneficial way to get the cdl
