Yikes! 75mph winds tip over semi on Mackinac Bridge, saved by guardrail

    You're right, I looked it up. 199' at mid-span. I stand corrected. Also interesting, during extreme cross winds the bridge deck can move as much as 35' east or west. Not sway that much, but a static side load from wind can push it over that much.

    So the driver was OK until the bridge moved under him?LOL I never thought of the bridge moving but I guess it would.


    I cross that bridge about 6 times a year. The sunsets are spectacular and the scenery generally is awesome. Macinac Island is an awesome place to take a reset. No trucks or 4 wheelers allowed.
