I was first in line at the gate in Gallup last year and had a horn war with BNSF, it was a blast (haha), them & I barking air back and forth, flapping arms at each other, both of us lit up like little boys kackling from a tummy tickling in the grass!

I have a good parallel road to a busy track. Always a good time!

I'm not one for showy flashy stuff, but a steam whistle and bell seems more fun than just train air horn.

I replied to everyone who wrote disrespctful messages to me, and it was a smart ### reply. But, I thought the better of it and I deleted that comment.

But I want to ask all of you, does your logic apply to testing the air horn during a post or pre trip at a truck stop or rest area?

Because per DOT regulations you're supposed to test the air horn during your pre and post trips. I never did it at truck stops or rest areas because people are trying to sleep, you know, the same logic I was using for not using the air horn or the regular horn in residential neighborhoods unless absolutely necessary...........

So what are all of your opinions on blowing the air horn at truck stops and rest areas (especially during the overnight hours) during post and pre trips, as per DOT regulations?

Or does the logic that people in their homes in residential neighborhoods should basically "Get over it" apply to the truck stops as well when it comes to blowing the air horn?

    Common sense. Not so common.

Can you test your city/air horn out on the desolate interstate somewhere?
Are you not going to drive your vehicle and wait for repair?
    Good luck with that.

Little kids are only little once. Future truckers.

I don't think an air horn is even required, however a city horn is, @ZVar can you refresh my memory?

I've still new at this only been doing it since 2007, I've yet to see a request for an air horn from a kid at a truck stop.

And yes, people should get over it. People in general should really take a few seconds and ask themselves if something is worth getting excited about. Now, if it's happening way too often, then yes, put up signs, tell the cops to write tickets for it. If it's a once in a while thing? Just chill. Roll over and go back to sleep.

Almost. A horn is required with a specific decibel rating. (I forget the exact number and don't care enough to look it up). An electric (city) horn or air horn both match the criteria. As long as either one works that satisfies the requirements.
