Seeing a lot of this these days. I was at the Love's just the other day, waiting on a tractor that was backing into a slot. Some slant-nosed supertrucker behind me decided he was too important to be kept from his 2 day old hot dogs and gallon soda, so he whips around my left side - and dang near t-boned the rig that was backing up.

Patience is a virtue - because it can keep your tractor dent-free.

So a trainer team mega-crap company runs into a a team mega-crap company, in broad daylight in a wide open truck stop! Who is at fault? Who ever hired these fools and stuffed them in a truck with another human.

I was in a bank parking lot one day and was going to pull into a rock star parking spot but the guy next to it was hugged on the yellow line and I couldn't fully get in it. I knew there was a spot on the opposite row two down from where I was at. Never saw anyone in my mirrors when pulling in/backing and did an S swerve backup slowly to get into it. got to a 45 angle and just had to swing my front end in and crunch. (He happened to be in my blind spot and was in a small 2 door car) Passenger door on my pickup truck got dented and his bumper scuffed.

He backed up a little so I could finish and get into the spot and turned in to the spot next to me. We exchanged insurance information and I immediately called my insurance company. Explained what had happened. Long story short is it was considered a "no fault" accident.

I didn't blame him however he was sure quick to give me an earful. One of those "I've never been in an accident" (in his 60's and retired from John Deere) and went on about how he was stopped and how I was the moving vehicle so its my fault. I heard this about 5-6 times and finally got irritated enough to just look him dead in the eye and said you just so happened to be the one looking in front and seeing I was backing. You couldn't have stopped early or backed up to let me swing the front end of my truck in the spot so you could go through? He never said a word after that lol

Watching this video reminds me of that. Look at the point of impact and the steps/mirror damaged. You cant tell me that solar driver couldn't have stopped early or backed up to let that truck out. For all we know he could have been sitting there playing in his phone for 5 min before attempting to back. I'd see this as a no fault accident. However I'm sure the company safety will look at whatever and say both drivers could have prevented it and get dinged there.

I had a trainer today, helping a student, back out of a parking spot.
Truck was parked nose first into a space, with stupid driver #2 parked stupid, behind him, illegally, and wasnt even straight, taking up 1.5 illegal, parking spots.
Stupid driver #2 was wearing a towel.
Gotta love a good trainer...had lots of laughs.

Yeah, they were asking for it. I drive a car carrier, and even I don't nose in to a slot. Backing out of a parking space exposes you to a lot more risk than backing into one IMHO.

Some spots are fine to nose into, like directly in front of fuel islands, or spots that back directly into the main road.
I cant tell you how many times after parking, Ive said to myself, theres no way anyone, would park stupid right there, in front of me.
Guess what happens in the am, when I open the curtains?

I sometimes nose in to avoid loud refrigerated units who never fail to slide in next to me with their temp alarm going off all night, every hour or so.

That said, I will not nose in to a spot unless the back out is towards fuel islands, open to pull forward, or somewhere that it is impossible to have someone make their own parking space behind me.
