ok, you go with that, over a dunce, moronic, ignorant, driver that cannot read or pay attention to details?

Yes sir. There are examples at many companies. I didn't write their policies, I just understand them based on a cost analysis. To the company, it's minor and that's all that matters.

The only exception i would make to this is recent road work. More than one bridge that had a 13 6 clearance last week has been lowered to 13 4 when the county added some black top without grinding down the previous layer first, and failed to replace the clearance sign.

This is true, of course, and in my mind something like could be negotiable.

However, in the incident I referred to the numbskull in question tried to take a straight truck marked at 13'1" under a bridge posted at 11'6".

    That is totally inexcusable.

Normally I do too but we have a old manual that is super low to the ground (even shimmed up). Only time I ever pull it is when we have something really tall. It doesn't take much of a RR hump to drag.

Happened to me in the windy city of Chicago.Don't remember the street (Western and something?) but that bridge was too low.I turned on 4way flashers and sat there trying to figure what to do(mind I was only driving for like 3 or 4 months),it was midday and way too much traffic to back up.
I guess someone called Chicago finest or maybe they spotted me.Don't know but 2 cars came at once. One behind me,the other on the other side of the bridge.
Leo "So what you gonna do?"
Me "I'd like to try to get out of here"
    Leo "I know!how?"
Me "If I back up to that street behind me I be able to turn around"
Leo "Ok,we will stop the traffic for you ,just hurry up!"
He was cool, didnt give me hard time or anything.
