I had a residential delivery just like this, but only 13 skids.. The pallet jack barely fit under the skids, but then some of the skids were broken :biggrin_25523: It was supposed to be a liftgate delivery (on a gravel driveway?) but luckily the guy had a forklift attachment on his tractor.

Agreed. I wouldn't do city not even if it paid more than linehaul.

I've done city work before, and better with some carriers than others but reading all these posts and realizing how much I don't miss it and reminds me of how much better the road is.

When I changed jobs, I wasn't too happy about being on the dock again but the gf brought up a good point, would you rather work the dock or go back into the city... As you all know what my choice was LOL

If it werent for the Socialization aspect of being a city driver in the same area for nearly 18 years i would go nuts. I run into plenty of freinds/aquaintances daily. I'm on vacation this week, dont miss the work but miss the daily BS sessions.

To unload a load of tires had one guy pulling off the stacks and rolling it to me, I restacked them and another guy took them off the trailer with a tire dolly. It hurt me, but I got paid a bit extra to do it.

I had many oppertunities to get paid to unload my truck, I took them up on it almost never.

Use to be a linehaul driver...OTR and local. Took a p&d job in May of this year, gave myself 2 months to decide if I like it or not, Took 2 months to get use to it but now am happy that I gave it a shot. Miss the road in someways, but now I don't know if I would care to go back to linehaul. Much more physical work involved with the p&d but I grew up on a dairy farm and am use to it. Have to say that unloading those 3,200 lb pallets of beer really sucks. Oh well, hopefully none of those tomorrow.

Edit... Forgot to mention..would rather unload the tires than unload the beer/soda/water/liquid pallets anyday.
