That may be... but there are many times more of them to begin with... I suspect that the percentage of the CDL holders and the class D folks that shouldn't be driving are roughly the same. I have long ago given up defending anyone just because they are in a truck... if they mess up, I point it out. We don't need them around us if they can't do basic stuff like keep it upright, not light the brakes on fire, and drive on the correct side of the highway. Oh... in addition to the two trucks that shut down I-15 on Friday, there was another truck with a battery that rolled over, pulling into a flying J in Utah AND this morning between Henderson and Boulder City, I-11 was closed because of multiple trucks crashing into each other. Not one 4 wheeler was involved in any of these crashes.

Plus the licensing offices are part of the problem as well. They’re more interested in making quotas than making sure some of these drivers know how to properly operate a motor vehicle.cuzzin it and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
If you don’t have multiple cameras on the dash and sides , you’re an idiot .
cameras don’t lie and they WILL save your butt if you get involved in an accident that’s not your fault .cuzzin it and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
Tailgaiting, passing on the right, speeding through construction zones where workers are present..... a worker on otherside of barrier moves quickly and someone stops brakes and and 3 cars back is semi suddenly going much faster than 4 cars braking hard.... example I 465 last thursdayFlat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
How about a boring anecdote?
Last night on I-35 northbound just entering Hillsboro, I see a tractor trailer ahead of me with its trailer brakes on fire. The guy pulls over and I stop in front of him. I fumble with my fire extinguisher and eventually make it to the rear of his trailer through thick smoke which was not fun.
Flames still kicking up, I let loose a blast and the fire is out. Still hot and smoldering, but out nonetheless. This was the first time I had ever used a fire extinguisher and it was quite effective.
The guy's trailer brakes were likely out of adjustment. Said it was his first load with this company. Don't know how long he hauled this trailer before it decided to have a brake shoe bbq.
I suggested he drop the trailer and he did. There was smoke seemingly coming from the roof of the trailer even after the brakes were put out. At least save the tractor. You know.
I left when the FD arrived and smelled like smoke afterwards for some reason.W923, mjd4277, austinmike and 1 other person Thank this. -
when I was picking it up from a railyard in St.Paul,Minnesota.
It seems that at that time Utility sent us a bad batch of reefer trailers that had some quality control issues.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.
