Good luck finding what you want. I hope you don't go back to CCC or give them a cent. That's ridiculous. I don't believe that tow and repair bill cost them anywhere near that.

    Texas Rules:
You can be OD for a total of 15 hours
Your rest break can be only 8 hours
You can drive, I believe, 12 hours, but double check that one
No ridiculous 30 minute break requirement
I believe it's only 24 hours off for a restart. Check that one, too.
But to be able to drive all-Texas rules, you have to start at point A at the beginning of the day and return to point A at the end of the day. At least that's what I've been told.

"hmmm" nothing. I've been busy doing other things outside of trucking. It's been a good break. I dread going back to it. If I could go another 6 months out of it, I would. And I might.

I am approved to go to orientation. I have a good gig now but paid 1099 for doing company driver work. No benefits, stuck with all the taxes etc. I hate the idea of owing Uncle Sam anything. Plan is to save for truck sold by Crete. I've received 90+% positive feedback from other Crete/Shaffer employees. I'm sorry to read about your mishap and it doesn't surpriseme that this happened because you hear about this kind of stuff alot with other carriers but I must say your the first from Crete.

On top of this, Crete keeps contacting me wanting me to go back. I've told them how it is. Me. No. Pay. That. Is. It. People there are like too many at too many a trucking company. They have the dreaded 'in one ear, out the other' disease.

Am I missing something in this story?

$5600 for a broken U-joint? OMG! How far was the truck towed that it cost $5000?? At $600 to fix the U-joint, I would feel violated.

Well, it happened. Hard as it is to believe. I'd question it, too, if I hadn't been stuck at a Freighliner 5 1/2 days and was given the invoice. I think the tow was 1200 for 26 miles. I need to get a tow truck with a sleeper and hit the road.

PS--If Crete would have been on their game, they'd have sent somebody from Lincoln the first night and fifthwheeled it back to their shop. That would have saved the 5600-1200 or about 4400. But nope. I believe I mentioned in an earlier post I got about 92 dollars in breakdown for 5 1/2 days of sitting.

Ok. Stealership probably replaced everything from trans to rears. Throw in $5-600 for shop supplies. And another grand for coffee breaks. Makes sense now.
