Could be shortage of doctors willing to put themselves in a litigious situation. With every lawsuit the doctor that signed off on the physical will a defendant.
-
their is talk about moving the date because not many doctors are signing on. so if you used your family doc for your dot exam mostly likely you'll need to find a new doctor. mega company that hire their own doctors should be all set for the new rules.
-
if you use your family doctor go get a new exam April 2014 so you can avoid the fed for 2 more years

Many changes coming to the DOT physical in May, according to my DR. He is not happy about it, just more govt regs he has to jump through hoops for.

Most industrial medical clinics are ready for this change. They do lots of DOT exams, and have already had their personnel "trained". By the way, the physicals even after May 15 of this year can still be done by a PA(physician assistant) and a couple of other medical professionals other than an MD.
