Please add your sentence-enders. Thanks! Oldnew....:biggrin_25514:

Job actually got pretty angry near the end there.

You just might make it as a new driver if your first shot goes 300 yards.

....you don't believe all the bullsh!t the recruiter tells you. Those recruiters are vultures waiting to sucker you in with glamerous stories of living the life on the open road.

....if you don't let it get to you when your company blames you for everything and I mean everything. Getting a nasty telephone call because you spun the tires and they think you were doing 8 mph on dry pavement in 2nd gear. Or because your MPG sucks and you need counseling on how to improve your MPG.

...if you know you're getting paid to work and not to sightsee the country, esp the Western states. Getting sent to MT or WY isn't as keens as you think, you could sit for days until a load is found near by to pick up which means $0 for a paycheck.

...if you smile with excitement when dispatched with a p/u in Manhatten Island for the 5th time in one month, yeah it must be my lucky month! NYC pisses me off with those bridge height signs that measure from the hub and not to the ground, wtf!!! First time I saw a 12'-2" I got out and measured the bridge to determine it was actually 13'-7".

You might make it as a new driver if you are cooperative and courteous.

if your life is so hard and difficult that trucking will seem like a road trip to DisneyWorld.

NYC clearance signs don't mean anything, but slow down and look before entering!

My advice: live in the moment, and expect frustration from time to time! But it's also lots of fun sometimes--you just never know when to expect one way or the other!

When you learn to differentiate between good advice and the useless beaching and moaning that goes on in places like this.

Some people will look for the bad in every place or situation they encounter. They're never satisfied.

Some people will do dumb stuff, get their tail in a crack and try to blame the consequences on everybody else. It's never their own fault.

Some people have unrealistic expectations or are entirely "ME" centered and expect the whole industry to change to suit them.

Some people come into this industry with "education" or "executive experience" from some job that they were "downsized" (read fired, laid off, etc) from and think they should grace we "peons" with their "superior knowlege".

You'll make it when you realize that basically trucking is what it is and has been for years. You ain't gonna change it. You can only adapt as best you can and get on with it..... or go find something else.
