Lurchgs, How many miles do you get a week, how much per miles? I'm not really trying to pry into your life. I would not and did not make less than $900 a week after taxes. The cost for the time away from my family and the long hours had to be paid. You can be a manager of McDonald's or Burger King and make 35K.

We all have a price to do the job we pick. My price was high to stay on the road and the company I drove for paid the price. I can not understand how driver stay away from home and family for like $400 or $500 a week.

You have to remember he is with a trainer and this is only his second week.

Please use your real number, unless you are willing to cook your book you will never see 660 miles day in and day out.

In a very good week I drove 3500 miles for 7 days, that is only 500 a day. A more realistic number would be 3000 and that is only 430 a day.

For me to run a 3500 mile week I had to adjust my books. Most OTR companies that run 99% legal logs only give the driver 2500 a week.

    C'mon that's not really otr.
Even in CA I could drive legally 605 miles in 11 hours if everything was perfect. A 300 mile radius is still local.

I did not meant it that way. Nothing wrong with being new. What I was saying was you were asking him about pay and miles. He won't make as much as we do until he gets more stick time. We all had to start out at the low end.

    Btw Lurch,

Just keep doing what you're doing.
    You'll do quite well.
Say, were you ever in the Army?
I knew a guy back in Fort Ord who we called "Lurch". You're about the right age too.

Ron-Mars, For the most part I only drive 200 miles total in an 11 hour day. I have been 280 miles from the shop and made it back in 13.5 hours 100% legal. I do not, do very long runs everyday, but any time I run out of hours, they pay for the motel.

What I meant was he is probably on a flat rate per week while training. Asking him about miles and money is a little premature in this stage of his trucking career.
