You want the best external speaker?

One thing I was wondering about the Any Tone, is does the Mic come off, or is it hard wired into the unit? I've herd it both ways...

I have a retired Navy ham friend who has one of those for his IC-7000 mobile hf rig and swears by it. He sez' it's the only way his XYL will let him run the radio if she has to listen to it. I've thought about getting one for the Wrangler, as the ambient noise level is higher than in the Cherokee.

 

This is my current jerry-rigged setup. I replaced the 4 ohm speaker with an 8 ohm speaker.

Looks good, the Mic is the exception. Ranger SRA 198 is what Turner/RK 56(original) was back in the days. I still can’t get myself to spend that kind of money on a CLRspkr. I settle with the old Motorola cop speaker. But what do I know
