Other long haul drivers say when they get a local pre-plan, they decline it and use the reason "too tired/not enough sleep". They don't argue with that.
Your company throw local work on you when you get back from a run?

I will do it so u can get an empty trailer for next load.
Company likes to send you to other customers for an empty and only to find out they don't have one or they need the ones they have.Daplumber Thanks this. -
Might be a good idea to talk with your dispatch.
be polite, but stick to your point.Daplumber Thanks this. -
Local work blows, but if you do it right it can be very relaxing. I like to take my time, leave long stopping distances in front of me and try to never use the brake or the clutch(except for the occasional red light I just can't avoid). Then there's the big breakfast and the long lunch break. Work is work and as long as I'm getting paid, I try not to let it bother me, but like Daplumber said if you need your rest, well that's a different story.

One local work I did well was gathering quit tractors in the area. 20 a hour flat cash. Qualcomms were full of pages of sob stories (And you thought some of my posts were long...) and sometimes full of vile profanity leading to quit. I usually inspected those things (Tractors) really carefully for stabotage. Caught a few and fixed it. What I needed some time to understand was FFE was always having tractors to go get.
But when I am done and home, you aint going to hear from me until such time it's rolling again. I had one in Memphis constantly yapping about how we ran on our own time. He should know better. Things here in Arkansas takes a time. Maybe a season. Or two...Daplumber and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
My company just did that to me. Made like an extra $1,200, but I'm not going to tolerate it much longer.
