Would anyone care to share any experiences you've had with either Steven's Transport or Millis Transfer?

I will have Texas as my residency.

I have been researching different companies online (and on this forum) and the two mentioned above sound like they are pretty good companies to work for. I like the fact that both of these have their own training facilities.

I'd like to haul OTR - Tanker (Steven's) or Dry Bed (Millis).

I kind of wanted to stay away from the well-known MEGAS, as much as I can. I'm sure I'll be corrected but these two look like they are relatively smaller companies than others like Prime, Swift, Central Refriderated, etc.

Any and all comments are welcome.

    Thanks!

Steven's hauls tankers? What the heck is "dry bed?"

Stevens tanker division is daycabs only in the Jacksboro area. The OTR division is all reefers. And they have over 2000 trucks, hardly a small carrier. I worked for them for 3 yrs. they do have an excellent OTR training program, but they expect you to stay out 4-6 weeks at a time.

What's wrong with that. I do 4-5, can't make good money coming in a lot

Nothing wrong with it. I did it for 3 yrs. it just doesn't suit everyone's lifestyle. I got a little burnt out towards the end of my time with them though. I've got a job now making better money and I get to sleep in my own bed 3 nights per week and spend a lot of quality time with my kids.

I wouldn't mind local or at least regional or something but want to build experience. Sucks when I miss kids stuff

Sorry, "dry bed" is my idiot way of saying "Dry Van" because evidently I got the terminology wrong. My mistake!

Ah. My mistake again. Looks like I need to do a little more research. I'm definitely looking OTR. The website I went to made it sound like tankers were OTR as well.

I've also looked at Schneider. It seems they have a pretty decent training program. At the very least it would give me the first year and then I could go somewhere else if I wanted

I got my start with Millis and stayed almost 2 1/2 years...no regrets. You can make great money there as well...1st year drivers can easily do 50k.
