You realize though that those kenworths are either lease/op, o/o or drivers that've been with Sni for a while right?
As for getting serviced, if you've never had a problem then that's great. I'm glad. The atlanta OC has a bad reputation anyways when it comes to maintenance.
Sure, I realize also that large companies buy freightshakers. They aren't bad trucks but they are a fleet truck. My understanding of a fleet truck is that many of the components can be switched around from truck to truck if needed, that may be incorrect mind you but I was told that during training. (The idea makes sense anyways.). When I said they are bottom rung or basic models, I only meant that they are stripped versions. You can purchase and spec a freightliner to be just as nice as a kenworth. -
When I worked company the trucks were never really a complaint. Sure the policies such as idling sucked, but the trucks? They buy trucks to make money with. Maybe yall should go tell your DBL to buy you a W900L or you're quitting. Freightliner makes a decent truck and I'd happily drive one again. I dont expect a company to buy o/o spec trucks.
Vilhiem, Newbeav Newbie and 91B20H8 Thank this. -

Also my clutch still works, lol! -
...though mine does very much earn the moniker of freightshaker. One could just as easily blame ill-kept roads though.
There are things I don't like about the truck I'm running, but I can't blame them on SNI's specs.
The only thing I liked about the international's driving was the fact that it turned tightly. It felt squirrely to me on the interstate and didn't like how I shift. That aside, the cabin felt huge and was better insulated than my Columbia. -
Been VTL two years now.
Pros:
Very good benifits, at a reasonable cost, especially if you have dependents.
They don't bother me, I mean, as long as I PU & del on time I can do as I please.
Cons:
They are sticklers about fuel cost. Like the ambient temp sensor on the trucks. 60 mph on cruse, 64 pedal to floor.
The Omnitrack will beeb at you anytime your on the throttle above 60 mph, that drives me crazy and is my biggest complaint at this time.
(Yes I know how to turn the sound off.) -
I should add that their weekend and after-hours office is understaffed. If you have a problem durning this time, it's going to be a long wait to reach anyone.
-
To each his own. Hear guys brag about their companies but overall on the company side of Schneider it's a great company.
Benefits, miles and they work with you. Your sick don't drive. Tired don't drive. Support shift can be a long wait on the phone but 8 times out of 10 send in a message you'll get a reply faster.TKR117 Thanks this. -
Would there by chance be a way to best the ambient temperature sensor, i.e. dump a bag of cold ice and salt on the sensor to fool it?
