    have you tried any of the local sand haulers? theres a ton of them on the island.

    I havent seen any ads for any of that type of company, I'll have to drag out the old phone book and see if there are any of those companies in there.

    tony: it sounds like you have more answers than questions..go with the cheapest route to get trained..with your family backgroud, go to them for advice, surely to goodness they still have some connections left out there...class A definitely...i seriously doubt you would have much trouble finding employment..you may have to ride with a trainer or another driver for a few weeks, but thats no biggie...most truckers avoid east coast freight and NYC especially, like the plague...you on the other hand, don't mind either, thats a big leg up right there..your family background tells a potential employer that you won't whine abt the city, another big plus.....pull your britches up and get out there...you sound like you'll make some company a good hand....shakey1946
