Holland used to run them. Drivers would lift the tag, to put more weight on the drive axle. They’d fly by me in the snow, Lol.

My neighbors got a Freightliner for Parts. Probably sell everything you need to swap it to a regular setup. Probably sell the whole Truck.

I'm more curious who bamboozled you into buying a single screw, when you knew you would need the traction of a twin. I mean, did you even know what you were looking at? I don't mean to be rude, and a tag axle does have it's merits, where it doesn't snow, unless you chain up or cables the 1 drive tire, I think you made a foolish mistake.

Price probably. Nobody wants them so they go cheap. I almost bought one myself despite experiencing it at Schneider and hating every minute. It was that cheap.

    Glad I didn't though.

You know, it's not like I haven't thought about this. What I was going to do, was take the drive axles out of one of the rears, and put a plate over the hole, and run that axle like a tag, weather turns cold, put the "real" axles back in.

When I was truck shopping, the truck was so nice (based on comparison with other trucks at the time, the used truck gamble notwithstanding) and the mileage was so low that I actually seriously considered it. It was priced the same as the day cab I ended up buying but it was a sleeper and I thought for a second I could just run hard in fair weather and hibernate in winter.

But then I recalled getting stuck on stupid #### like gravel and noped hard out of that one.

I had a tag axle day cab at Schneider too. It was a 2015 or 2016 MY. Same automatic. Had a plow truck shove me up and around a corner in Hazelton because I lost momentum on a road that wasn't even a challenge for anyone else.

I had called support and they said they'd send someone in a couple hours. 15 minutes later I called them back and said nevermind I'm good. They said how and I said what you don't know won't hurt you.

As long as you can dump the tag separate from the pther drive axle you will have no problem in the snow
