He passed one truck ramp, from Grand Junction to Denver, there is only one runaway ramp on EB I 70, and it's just over half way down Genesse Hill, he drove past it. There is video of him being in the middle lane, obviously speeding, out of control at the time he passed the ramp.

 

March 17th, 1997 the state of Colorado handed me my CDL, that license is my life, and I treat it like my life depends on it at every moment. I've had this argument time and time and time again with people who have no clue, no idea, total ignorance of the laws, rules, regulations, or even what the inside of a truck looks like, etc., that we truckers have to deal with on a daily basis.

I've run those mountain passes at least 1,000 times in the last 24 yrs, I have the utmost respect for them.

You're right, I'm not perfect, I'm far from it, and I pray that I never find myself in a situation like this, BUT, a long time ago, I made my peace with whatever higher being there is, those ramps are there for a reason, I will take it, and forbid that something happens and that ramp is not there, I will ditch that truck in a heart beat to avoid taking the lives of others, even if the risk is to my own life.

No, that's WB. The EB ramp is a gravel trap at road grade just beyond the shoulder.

Haven't seen it posted, but has the company he was driving for ever been revealed? Are the still operating? Or, did they disappear the day after this incident?
