You have wrenched for years, and thanks for all your hard work and caring about doing it right. I hope your leadership and legacy rubbed off on some of the younger guys....To me the fun in every....task, is to see how well one can do it...otherwise, it is just a job...
Life is very fragil and short. Now, live another dream. There is so much to see in life, now is the time. Others would like to be able to use your expertise still, and I can fully understand that, but you need to drive, as it sounds like a desire that has been buried for years.....
your opinion please... mechanic to owner operator?

I'm thinking me and you need to sit down over a pot of coffee or maybe a case of beer, because I'm thinking about doing the exact opposite. I want to sell my truck and start spinin wrenches. IMO they regulated all the fun out of driving about 10 years ago, and now they have figured out a way to regulate most of the $$$ out of it. just my $0.02

I have a friend leased to Land star, loves it.My advice is look for a company that pays % and has a lot of good paying freight.Never let any company fob you of you fuel surcharge and take nothing less than the national average. If your home time is important, look for a company close to where you live.Good Luck and safe travels.

Where do you live? You dont meet landstars minimum requirements so forget that. Depending on where you live i may or may not be able to help. are you ok with bs satalite tracking or an EOBR? Do you want to nap or run tired against some stupid electronic device?

There's several brokers where you can book your own loads from, and get 1 or 2 day pay for them. With your mechanical experience, you should do good. Plus, if you want to take a few days off at home and re group, you don't have to clear it with anybody.koncrete cowboy Thanks this. -
Is this route better than gettn some experience with a mega carrier first? Thanks in advance

I hate to see a nice guy lease on with Swift of Schneider. If you get your own authority you may have to pay a bunch for insurance the first couple years or have trouble getting it at all, but I still think you'd be better off than that 0.97/mile plus fuel or whatever Schneider is offering.

if landstar was so good. how come the complaints are starting to rack up on TTR.
if landstar was so good. how come they take a bigger cut then other companies.
if landstar was so good. how come they make all new hires install eobr's.
5 years ago they were probably the sheetzola.
i wouldn't go work for them today. not when other companies take a smaller cut then landstar. and don't make you wear a dog leash.Lone Ranger 13, landstar8891, Junkyard Johnney and 1 other person Thank this.
