your opinion please... mechanic to owner operator?

In my quest for some hands on........ozark gave me a pre app today. 14.5 cent for every mile truck moves while im in with a trainer for 3-4 weeks .then .35 a mile when I get my rig. What do you think? After all im just looking for the experience until I work out my o/o with the c/x. Also heres another question.when I finally get it all going my wife will be on board with me when im o/o. If she only has her permitwill I be able to get any extra miles with her driving or do I have to be on duty? I apologize for the rookie questions in advance.

Thanks to everyone here for the help.next friday is my last day in the shop. Decided to move it up a little.so for better or worse swift finally called and ill be headed to jonestown the following Monday. Ill put my time in then see you all back here in 6 months when I roll out the dog! Lol in the mean time ill move over to the newbie swift section.I was thinkingon starting a thread so at least my wife can keep tabs on me. Thanks agai. For all the help
