My Alma Mater! 2011 State Champs! My folks still live there, I deliver around there a couple times a week. Besides the occasional fistfight over a load seal, it’s pretty quiet.:D

    Metro Logics Facilities

Says right on Metro logistics website that "We provide a secure environment for our clients high value pharmaceuticals"

    That explains the heavy Security.

you know, it is possible, those security guards DO HAVE police powers. Brown University (as an example) does, it's an ivy league college, the guards HAVE to go thru police academy training, carry side arms and can call the cops via radio in a heart beat. and THAT is a college, not a drug warehouse..>!!!!

pharmaceutical warehouses with all those drugs, may have the very same set up, who knows, maybe even retired cops, or off duty cops working there part time.....

The reason to unlawfully detain under no warrant in the first part of statement and retain credentials, when not laiden bothers me.

When you assault individuals on private property that one does not own is a big bag of doo. The perpetrator that initiates assault is the public enemy.
So it seems a bit of a toss up to me.

Since when did security guards become police officers? For security guards to detain you, you have to have broken a law but not one of their facility rules. They can only tell you to leave the facility, but they are not allowed to detain you. The most they can do is call the police if you refuse to leave.

Totally sensible. I agree with all of your posts. Its so much easier to comply. Why do people insist on getting into it with these guards? It's not like they're getting paid a whole lot of money, if they think they have power, let them have their moment in the spotlight. You could have got your load, you would have been gone, and you would have never seen him again. The OP screwed up by telling the guard, "It's a comfort thing. You'll just have to deal with it." He should have been able to put two and two together. If they are searching your truck, they are checking for any type of Contraband and they're not taking any chances. These guards are going to talk crazy. It's nothing we can do about it. All of this could have been avoided, if you had it just kept your hands out of your pockets for a few seconds. People have to look at the lesser of two evils in my mind. A few seconds out of his pocket would have resulted in getting a load, and getting down the road. Instead it resulted in injury, lost wages, legal issues, and getting crucified on TTR. We are truck drivers, so we are automatically the heels. We have to be professional because we know better. We travel around the country enough to learn how to deal with people. Being a big shot gets us no where.

Life is not about conforming because you are told you need to.
Being detained just because you are not like is not legal.
