Hi there..
Long time driver but first time working for a company that pays gross of load.
Personally I find this method the company uses odd and would like your thoughts on the matter.
This company sends me load information in group text. vp of operations and a dispatcher and myself are on the only ones in the group.. the message will come with load information from dispatch. All I'm told to do is text back a thumbs up or "got it" so he knows I'm aware of it.. then I get a separate message from vp of operations with my rate. It's always the zoomed in.. I find this method quite odd almost as I'm getting scammed.. is this normal.
Your thoughts please

Is this a very small company?
I do find it very odd that the VP of Operations would be the one telling you your rate.Kyle G. Thanks this. -
Are you based out of the Chicago area? Just asking.

I wouldn’t do it.
One “gas money” load and I’d leave the truck right where it sat.
You’re here asking probably because your gut feeling says run away.. listen to the voices in your head and forget about it.runningman0661 and Kyle G. Thank this. -
Last company I was at, the company drivers were paid 22% of the load, owner-ops with trailers got 90%.
Some of the drivers have been there over 15 years. Can’t be too bad.Kyle G. Thanks this. -
I don't understand your question, what excatly are worried about?
Is it the blown up rate con, do you think your company is hiding money from you? If so just mention you would like the rate cone emailed to you so you can see the whole thing. -
Sounds like someone just found out what % is. It's not a scam, although I'd demand to know what it pays BEFORE I hit okay, but % has ONE person in mind, the owner. % of what?, I always asked. Not many times does % work for a driver, and not much different than mileage, really. The load pays the same whether it takes 1 hour or 3 days. I'd never drive a truck for either, although I have, and hourly, even with no O/T is the way to go.

Personally I'm not interest working for a company that pays perecentage (%) of loads unless they show a rate sheet of what the load pays or the company is getting. Too much scam type companies out there trying to take advantage of Cdl drivers and Owner Operators so being aware from the start is essential.
